Editorial by Francesco Fiorentini – “And finally we made it… Fifty issues!”

And finally we made it… Fifty issues!
Fifty issues is a lot… It seems like yesterday that, on a rainy weekend in October, I was alone in my little apartment in Amsterdam writing the first issue of RetroMagazine. It started as a bit of fun, but it was fueled by a great passion and the love I immediately received from so many people who quickly became friends. I said it seems like yesterday, but eight years have already passed! During this time, our magazine has undergone several changes, leading to what it is today and blowing out the candles on the cake for issue 50!
Fifty issues that demonstrate the quality of the project and the work of all those who, with each issue, dedicate some of their time, free of charge, to writing the articles that make up the magazine. I would like to personally highlight the commitment that each of RetroMagazine World’s contributors puts into this work. When you download this issue, consisting of more than 135 pages, take a moment to think about all the work that goes into its creation. There are people, like you, who devote time to writing an article, taking care to ensure that it is as error-free as possible so that the person responsible for its layout does not have to waste time rereading every line. There is someone who looks at all the articles and seeks inspiration to design an image to send to the graphic designer to create the cover. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of all the work that goes on behind the scenes… These people receive no compensation for their work; they are simply driven by passion and a love of sharing knowledge.
Now that we have reached issue 50, our Eugenio, the “old man of the group” as he describes himself, rightly pointed out that we have never really introduced ourselves. We have therefore decided to start doing so in this symbolic issue. Turn to pages 53 and 54 to find out more about some of the members of the editorial team.
Fifty issues are a lot… But they are only a fraction of what we want to achieve. Enthusiasm is greater than ever in the editorial office, and there is certainly no shortage of topics, given that retrocomputing, fueled by what marketing experts call the nostalgia effect, is at the height of its success.
Fifty issues is a lot… And we are proud to have reached this milestone!
